It is off to Rockford , Illinois . to determine who the best college teams are for 2005.

Before my departure to Rockford and The Cherry Bowl, a line of communication is started with both the staff of the IBC and the staff of the bowling center. I also had to get my equipment ready and shipped, so it will be there when I arrived.

The first day I was there, I spent time getting the Kustodian Plus lane machine ready for the tournament. I conditioned a few pairs of lanes to check ball reaction. The Cherry Bowl, once a home of the former PWBA, has 12 year old, full length Guardian. All IBC tournaments must comply with the Sport Bowling rules, so the decision for the pattern was to use the same pattern we used at Sectionals. Because of the age of the surface, Offense-HV rather than Prodigy would be used at a 3:1 ratio.

The rest of the week went about as smooth as any tournament I have ever participated in. The bowling was great and I could not have been more pleased. It was truly unlike any other tournament that I have worked.

After 32 games of Baker-style match play, the Kansas Men's Team and Wichita State Women's Team were leading the fields. The teams then entered double elimination, bracket style match play to determine a winner.

During the Men's Finals, it was Lindenwood University against Fresno State University . Lindenwood triumpohed in a two game match and won their first ever Men's National Championship title.

In the Women's Finals, the Wichita State women defeated the West Texas A&M women in two games to end an 11 year drought and claim an impressive and record setting seventh National Championship.

All of the teams who participated bowled well. I would like to congratulate each of them for making it to the IBC tournament. Additional congratulations go to the Champions; Lindenwood Men and Wichita State Women for an outstanding performance.

I would like to thanks Jody Brummer and Andy Van Remortal and the rest of the staff of the IBC. I would also like to thank entire staff of the Cherry Bowl, Jon Anderson and Lynn Heinemann.. Without each of you, this tournament would not have been possible.
