INTERCOLLEGIATE BOWLING
CHAMPIONSHIPS SECTIONAL

AMF Oak Ridge Lanes, San Jose , California

By: Steve Cross

Prior to my trip, we start a line of communication with the Tournament Director and the proprietor of the bowling center. Kegel coordinates with the tournament officials and coordinates shipment of a lane machine with conditioner, cleaner, and spare parts to each tournament site. We also determine the parameters of the pattern to be used; to comply with this tournament the pattern was Sport Bowling Compliant.

I arrived in San Jose on the 17 th of March and drove to AMF Oakridge Lanes. Once I arrived and met the staff, they showed me the area they set aside for all of my equipment. That night I met with the tournament director and all of the coaches to go over the pattern being used and field any question they might have.

Before the sectional tournament began, there was a singles tournament. The top four men and top four women in the singles tournament will move on to compete in the Collegiate Singles Championship Tournament. Congratulations to the following competitors:

Overall, being that it was a very wet and rainy weekend outside, the tournament went very well, with all events running on time. Thanks in part to Tom Barger and his staff at Oakridge Lanes, and Steve Lawton and his daughter for handling the tournament director's duties. Finally, thank you to Bob Fields (aka Cord Man) and his wife Gloria for dinner Friday before the Tournament.
